YU & Associates (YU) was retained to perform Site Analysis, Preliminary Engineering and Final Design for the rehabilitation of the existing athletic field. This new field was to be utilized for soccer and softball as well as baseball practice. A topographic survey was performed and a conceptual design of a synthetic surfaced field to replace the existing grass field was completed. The concept study included analysis of a number of alternate layouts on this tight urban site which is constrained by the grade change across the site. A preliminary subsurface investigation involving test pits was also performed to assess the existing fill and shallow rock conditions. YU worked closely with University Athletic Department and Facilities Department to develop and review the various layouts.
During the Final design phase, YU prepared all engineering and contract bid documents. Subsequently, YU also provided bid review and construction support services.
