In an effort to improve the athletic fields at Brookdale Park located in Bloomfield, NJ, YU & Associates (YU) was retained to provide investigation, evaluation and design services.
YU designed the athletic field and prepared construction bid documents and specifications to meet the clients’ requirement to provide a track, football field, soccer field, scoreboard and a field house at the 2.3 acre site. The subsurface investigation indicated that rock was at a shallow depth. YU provided alternate routes for laying the utility lines and minimized the possibility of rock trenching which would have delayed the project. As construction manager on this project YU was responsible for construction oversight, reviewing contractor payment requisition and change orders, attending meetings and reviewing shop drawing submittals.
The project involved replacement of the cinder track and natural sod infield by a weather proof rubberized track and artificial turf field with inlay lines for football and soccer. The project was fast tracked to ensure completion before the upcoming athletic season.
